Juline Carol Duis Fox, 84, passed away peacefully on October 6, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and faith that touched countless lives throughout her 61-year marriage and devoted motherhood.
Born January 21, 1941, at the hospital in
Watseka, Illinois, Juline grew up attending Bryce Ash Grove grade school and graduating from Milford High School. Her interest in science and helping others led her to Capital University for three years, where she completed her physical therapy studies at the prestigious Mayo Clinic, earning both her BS degree from Capital University and PT degree from Mayo Clinic.
On September 6, 1964, Juline married her high school sweetheart, Gerald Fox, while he was in medical school. She worked as a physical therapist at Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital in Chicago, supporting their young family as Gerald completed his studies. Their love story blossomed into a beautiful family with the births of daughter Charlene in 1966, son Bryan in 1967, and daughter Cynthia three years later in 1970.
From 1973 to 2020, Juline made her home in
Mt. Vernon, Illinois, where her husband established his surgical practice. She chose to dedicate herself fully to her children's lives, actively supporting their music, 4-H activities, and church involvement. Her musical talents shone as choir director and organist at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where she and her family were an integral part of that community.
Juline's community involvement included active participation in the American Cancer Society. She was a docent and council member of the World Affairs Program at Cedarhurst and spent many years as chair of the Cedarhurst Chamber Music Program, sharing her passion for music with others.
Her love for traveling, playing piano and organ, and reading-especially history-enriched her life and the lives of those around her. Above all, her children and grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy.
Even when faced with the challenges of multiple sclerosis, Juline maintained that life had been kind to her, finding comfort in the hymn "It Is Well with My Soul." She was a beloved wife and mother who gave selflessly of her time and energy to her family and community.
Juline is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Dr. Gerald Fox; two brothers, Jerome (Darlene) Duis and Leon (Mary) Duis; her three children, Dr. Charlene (Dan) Guggenheim, Dr. Bryan (Marcia) Fox, and Dr. Cynthia (John Sewell) Fox; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother-in-law Wayne (Sue) Fox; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
