Julio Cesar Chacon was born on October 1, 1937, Tela, Honduras to the late Antonio Chacon Sandoval and Maria Eucebia Hernández Chacon. On Saturday, September 28, 2024, he entered Eternal rest at age of 86.
He attended and graduated with a certification from Technician Vocational Institute of Tegucigalpa, Honduras in 1958. He enjoyed playing fútbol as a member of the soccer team "Hurricanes" in Tela, Honduras where he acquired
his nickname "Chámpele" that stuck with him till the end. He migrated to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1968 and then sent for his wife Noemi and 2 sons Cesar and Carlos in 1969. He was employed as a Longshoreman for
the Port of New Orleans until his retirement and ended his career as a Foreman for the International Longshoreman's Association (ILA).
He was a hardworking man on the docks of New Orleans for his family. One of his proudest moments was purchasing a house for his family in 1977 and then becoming a US citizen in 1985.
He was a faithful member of the Saint Jerome Catholic Church. He served his community, church, family, and friends with love and devotion.
Julio is proceeded in death by his siblings: Guadalupe, Chacon-Elvir, Antonio Chacon, Jose Roberto Chacon, Lucio Raquel Chacon, Israel Hernandez, and Leonor Hernandez.
Surviving Siblings, Mercedes Chacon and Jorge Alberto Chacon (Mireya).
Survived by: Noemi Jimenez, and Zulma Soto. Beloved father of Cesar, (Karen), Carlos, (Shari),
Ricardo "Black", (Martha), Suyapa, (Gerald), Julio and Cynthia, 18 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. We will forever cherish his memories and he will be greatly missed by everyone. Love you Papi
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Saint Jerome Catholic Church, 2402 33rd St., Kenner. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m.
