Júlio César Amaral da Silva, lovingly known as Jay, was born on January 28, 1991, in Terceira, Azores- sharing a birthday with his mother. On November 25, 2025, our beloved Jay left this world far too soon, leaving behind a legacy of loyalty, kindness, humor, and a heart that embraced everyone he met.
Growing up, Jay was the quiet one - sweet, thoughtful, loving, and full of playful energy in his own way. At just 20 years old, on November 6, 2011, he came to America to live with his sister Patricia, beginning a new chapter filled with courage and dreams.
California became the place where Jay built many of his strongest memories and friendships. His warm spirit helped him connect with people everywhere he went.
He worked at a dairy, Martin Brower, and Marie Callender's. He loved hiking, roller skating, world travel, fashion, skincare, and taking pictures (especially approving them before anyone posted!).
Jay supported Patricia through hard times. When her daughter Chloe was born, he arrived just one month earlier and helped her tremendously. He created a beautiful bond with both Chloe and his nephew Hernani (20). He was the fun, reliable uncle - the one who always showed up and always helped.
In 2015, when their father passed away, Jay was devastated he couldn't return home due to his citizenship process. But this year, after 14 long years, he finally returned to the Azores. He visited his father's grave, reconnected with family across Terceira, and traveled to São Miguel to visit their grandmother.
Later, Jay moved to
East Falmouth, MA, to live with his aunt Teresa and uncle Mario, becoming a beloved part of their home.
He worked at Bar 99, where he made friends effortlessly. When Uncle Mario was diagnosed with cancer, Jay accompanied him to chemotherapy and supported him with love and loyalty.
Jay shared a special bond with his cousin Stephanie. When she learned she was pregnant, he immediately began buying items for the baby, filling a basket he never had the chance to give.
He continued dreaming of becoming a barber. After starting barber school in California, he hoped to continue in Massachusetts and one day open his own shop.
Jay is survived by his loving family. his mother, Genoveva; his siblings, Patricia, Ludgero, and Mario; his aunt Teresa; his uncle, Mario; his niece Chloe; and his nephew, Hernani. He was preceded in death by his father, Jose.
Jay's life was defined by kindness, loyalty, style, generosity, and a presence that people never forgot. He was the friend who showed up, the nephew who helped, the cousin who celebrated, the uncle who spoiled, the brother who supported, and the son with a gentle heart.
He will be endlessly loved, remembered, and deeply missed.
