CHAMPAIGN - Julius Hewitt, 63, of Champaign died at 11:25 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2024, at home. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 1215 W. Bradley Ave., Urbana.

Julius was a gentle soul. He was my yoga student and then a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher through the 90s until he left town for some time. In 1993 in Chicago, he met BKS Iyegnar who helped him in front of an audience stand without his braces. He was inspired and in 1994 he went to the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India. He was in the yoga medical class where BKS Iyengar further helped him. He took my therapy intensive during the pandemic. He was an inspiration to other students. I am curious to know the circumstances of his death. He lives on in the memories of those he was close to.

Julius was a great friend to me in Junior high at Franklin and in high school at Champaign Central.My condolences to his family.May God give you all peace and comfort during the loss of your loved one.

Julius was one my best friends in Jr High Franklin. He gave me bible in 1975, and I still have it. I will Cherish it forever. RIP my brother.
