Julius Pugh was born December 8, 1951 to Georgia and Julius Pugh. He was reborn in his earthly body when he accepted Christ at an early age. At the age of 17 Julius graduated from Carver High School in Memphis, TN, shortly after he joined the United States Air Force. Julius proudly served a tour in the Vietnam. He honorably served his country where he retired as an E-4 Sergeant. He came home to family and dedicated over two decades of his life at Shelby Farms Correctional Facility as a Lieutenant where he was known for his discipline, integrity, and steady leadership. He later continued his career at MS State Penitentiary where he remained a respected figure among his peers and the community. Julius was a man of quiet strength and deep commitment, both to his work and his loved ones. His legacy of service and dedication will long be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. Julius Pugh found and married the love of his life, Gertrude Pugh. Two found each other later in life and after previous marriages, but was right on time! They wed on February 12, 2005. Julius was proceeded in death by his father Julius Pugh Sr., mother; Georgia Pugh, his brothers; Oscar Cannon, Namon Cannon, Larry Baldwin, Melvin Phillips, Fred Brock; two sisters; Beverly Johnson and Samarita Cannon. He is survived by his devoted wife, Gertrude Pugh who stood by his side through life's many seasons, Julius leaves to cherish his presence on this earth and memories to: Sheri Pugh of Shreveport, LA, Phillip Pugh (Sharena) of Olive Branch, MS, L.A. Cannon (Catina) from Ruleville, MS, Veronica Cannon, Keidrick Cannon, Tiffany Cannon, Corneilous Cannon all from Olive Branch, Gloria Sikes (Robin) from Biloxi, MS, Latora Ray, Gregory Boxley from Memphis, TN, Daryl Grandberry from St. Louis, MI and Keith King from Memphis, TN. He had 27 grand kids and 26 great grand kids. Julius raised 4 of his grandkids as his own JaQuez Cannon, Lequentis Cannon, Damein Kennedy, and Messiah Johnson all from Olive Branch, MS.
