Julius Szarka Obituary
Fred was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on April 30, 1952. He was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Louise Szarka, son Rodney Gunnell, daughter Julie Summers, brother Lynn Newby, and sister JoAnn Newby. He met the love of his life, Betty, 54 years ago and married her.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Szarka, sons Fred Szarka, Jr. (Keri), Randy Gunnell (Paula), daughters Rhonda Shipwash (Kevin), Krista Szarka (Cliff), Brandi Ebling (Casey), daughter in law Deborah Gunnell, son in law Barry Summers, 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, fur baby Ruby, and brother Bobby Szarka. He was loved and adored by many nieces and nephews.
Fred was a dedicated truck driver for 32 1/2 years. He loved bowling, shooting pool, mowing yards and spending time with the family. Most of all, he loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his beloved Chiweenie (fur baby) "Ruby".
The family would like to thank Moses Cone Hospital, 2 heart ICU floor, and Palliative Care 6th floor north for the wonderful care they gave him, and the compassion they showed him, and his family in his final days.
