June Anderson Byrd, age 86, passed away on September 18, 2025. She was born June 4, 1939, in Clay County, to the late Wilburn Guy Anderson and Willa Mae Hogan Anderson. June retired as a supervisor with 20 years of service from the NCDMV.

June is survived by her children: Teresa B. Freeman (Johnny), Randy Byrd (Carmen), Angie B. Mitchell (Jeff); grandchildren: Randi Byrd, Kelly Simmons (David), Tera Christmas (Trey), Justin Mitchell; great-grandchildren: Breanna Simmons, Bailey Simmons, Bristol Simmons, Ryker Christmas, Jonathon Christmas; and sisters: Barbara A. McCurdy and Patricia A. Quinn (Lee Penny).

In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Dewitt "D.W." Byrd, Jr.; grandson, Jonathon Freeman; granddaughter, Reagan Byrd; and sisters: Genevieve A. Clark and Wanda A. Williams.

Funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm, Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Central Baptist Church Chapel, 11109 Poole Road, Wendell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends and relatives prior to the service, from 1:00 to 2:15 pm, in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church Youth Program.
