(Velma) June Furnish, age 97, entered the pearly gates surrounded by her beloved family on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

June, a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church, enjoyed attending services at the Victory Memorial Methodist church with her family in later years.

She was born to Clarence Smith and Goldie (Bailey) Smith on the family farm near Putnam, Oklahoma on July 22, 1928. June attended a country elementary school and HS at Taloga & Putnam, she graduated from Harbor High School in California in 1945. She attended one semester of college at Weatherford, Oklahoma, and worked in the local hospital for two years.

June married the love of her life (a neighbor boy), "Cotton" Furnish in November of 1948 in Clayton, New Mexico. They moved to the Hitch Ranch, Guymon, where June and Cotton worked all their lives. June ran a bunk house, cooked for the boarders (ranch hands), drove a school bus, raised three children, and later ran parts for Hitch Feedlot, June and O.C. retired in 1991.

June was a 50 year member of Home Extension Group of Texas County, a lifetime member of Guymon Hospital Auxiliary, and loved her social time in the Red Hat Society. She was an accomplished seamstress, even making pageant dresses, wedding dresses and suits for family. June made numerous quilts, winning blue ribbons at the county fair. In her later years, Grandma June loved doing projects and baking cookies for the fair with her grandchildren.

June and Cotton raised three children: Lyndell Lindsay (Mike), Bing Furnish (Roxanne Conner), and Rick Furnish (Val Newman); eight grandchildren, Joe Mike Lindsay (Leigh), Shea Lindsay-Krier (Isaac), Bret Furnish (Heidi), Beau Furnish, Breanne Furnish, Jacob Furnish (Megan), Jordan Furnish (Kalley) and Holly Walter; June has 16 great grandchildren: Spencer Redcorn (Carli), Shelby Branson (Caleb), Sutton Redcorn and Sophie Krier, Kaysha Laine Lindsay, Katie Jo Underwood (Dennis), Joseph Lindsay (Bryley) and Jack Lindsay. Bryson, Rylee and Evan Furnish, Claire, Cooper and Colten Furnish, Autry and Elliott Furnish. Grandma June has nine great-great grandchildren Emersyn Honeman, Oren Cotton, Lois June, Josephine, Adeline & Nora Lindsay, Wakon, Finn and Maeve Branson.

June will also be missed by her two brothers Gale Smith and wife Lucy and Gerald Smith wife Jean, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends including her card playing friends at Sr. Citizens for over 25 years.

A very special thank you to Grandma's grand daughter in law caregiver, Megan Furnish.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorials be given to the Victory Memorial Methodist Church or the Furnish Family Scholarship at OPSU. Memorials will be accepted at Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.

Family visitation will be Thursday evening, November 13th between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home. Family interment will be Friday morning November 14th at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon with Read Barby officiating. Memorial services will be Friday afternoon, November 14th at 2:00 p.m. at the Victory Memorial Methodist Church with Pastor David Player officiating.
