June Katherine Harmon, 94, passed away October 16, 2016. Survived by children, Carol (Kelly) McCann of Henderson, Nev., Lee (Judy) Newhard of Pueblo, Rande (Janie) Newhard of Greeley and James (Rosa) Harmon of Washington; sister, Dorothy Carlson of Silver Creek, Neb.; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Preceded by husbands, Fred S. Newhard in 1989, and O. Dale Harmon in 2005; parents, Lester and Vivian Krumme; and daughter, Sharyn Vaivoda. June was born on January 17, 1922, in St. Joseph, Mo. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi and the Eagles/Elks. June enjoyed quilting and volunteering at Cooperative Care Center and Parkview Hospital. Memorial service, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016, First United Methodist Church, 310 W. 11th Street. Private family burial, Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to Ruth E. and O. I first got to know June when I joined Pride City Quilt Guild. we would have some fun times talking about quilting and her volunteer work at Parkview Hospital. I know she was not a happy camper when she had to give up her quilting and hand work. She would tell some of us at guild about her trips to Las Vegas to see her daughter and what fun she had. We would tease her and say she went there to got to the strip to play the slots for quilting money. June would just look at us and laugh and say she were never spend her money without a guarantee of a win.
June was a sweet person and I'm glad I got to know her even for a short time.
