June Marie Kersey, affectionately known as "June Bug," passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on December 7, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Harry and Mary (nee Young) Borgman, June Bug touched the lives of many with her vibrant spirit and infectious laughter.
June Bug married Howard Kersey Sr. on October 29, 1966 and they were blessed with Kim, Greg, Robert, and Joseph. She was not only a devoted homemaker but also the life of every gathering, a friend to all, and a beloved family member. Her love for music was evident in her enthusiasm for singing along with her favorite band, the "Whammies," while her competitive spirit shone through in her passion for bowling and trips to the casino. It was even said that she brought the joy of the casino to her nursing home, organizing monthly outings that became a cherished highlight for her and her newfound friends.
Her family will always remember her warmth, her unwavering support, and the countless memories she created over the years. June Bug leaves behind her beloved daughter, Kimberly (Ken) Bailey; her sons, Howard Jr. "Greg" Kersey, Robert (Julie) Kersey, and Joe (Nickie) Kersey; her cherished grandchildren, Dylan (Samantha), Tyler (Jessica), Joey, and ShyAnne; and great-grandchild Lavender, with another one on the way. She is also survived by her dear brothers, William and Lawrence Borgman, along with many nieces and nephews who adored her.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Sr. Kersey, her daughter-in-law Terri Kersey, Parents: Harry A. and Mary (nee Young) Borgman and siblings: Carol Modafari, Linda Blevins, Rita Hodge, Audrey Humphrey, Marilyn Smith, and Richard Borgman, who now joyfully reunite with her.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Brater Winter Funeral Home, located at 201 S Vine Street, Harrison, OH 45030, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service, which will begin at 11 AM. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Old Cemetery, where her spirit can rest in peace. In honor of June Bug, the family requests that those attending wear their favorite Bengals gear to the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Neurofibromatosis Network or the American Heart Association, honoring June Bug's legacy of compassion and kindness.
As we gather to celebrate June's life, we will hold her memory in our hearts, cherishing the laughter and love she brought into our lives. Her legacy will remain with us, reminding us to embrace every moment and to celebrate life with joy.
