June Krankowski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory Oxon Hill on May 7, 2025.
June Claire (nee Schultz) Krankowski of Annapolis, MD passed away at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC on May 5, 2025 at the age of 89.
Born in Washington DC in 1935 to Emma Theresa (nee Blandford) Schultz and Aubrey Emerson Schultz, June grew up in Clinton, MD. As a young lady, she sang in the USO, where she met her beloved husband, the late US Navy Airman Felix (Phil) George Krankowski. They married in 1955, the first couple to ever wed in St. John Catholic Church in Clinton. Together they raised six children, Doug, David, Phyllis, Glen, Janis, and Blair, and later became the proud grandparents and great grandparents of their expanding family. They moved to Annapolis in 1990, and she returned to work later in life with the Maryland Municipal League until she retired.
The epitome of a steel magnolia, June was a sweet yet stoic, perfectly coiffed and color-coordinated, strong yet soft-spoken gentlewoman who never forgot anyone's birthday or special moment, and was still engaged in the lost art of handwritten messages on cards. She loved flowers and gardening, creating jewelry, playing Majong with her friends, going on long walks, and spending precious time throughout her life in Ocean City with her parents and with her husband, strolling the boardwalk, riding bikes, and partaking in the dining and shopping options.
June was proud to learn late in her life that she was not only a descendant of the pilgrims on the Mayflower and the Ark and Dove ships, but also of a few of America's founding fathers, as well as of the founders of the original Maryland colony and numerous Maryland statesmen.
A devout Christian, June was a faithful member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church of Annapolis, MD, and previously a member of St. John Catholic Church of Clinton, MD.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Phil, her daughter, Phyllis Ann Krankowski, two of her grandchildren, David Krankowski and Daniel Krankowski, her sister, Shirley (Schultz) McIntosh, and her brother, Aubrey Schultz.
She is survived by five of her six children: Stephen (Doug) Krankowski, David Krankowski, Glen Krankowski (Helen Livanios), Janis (nee Krankowski) Williford (Jerry Williford), and Donald (Blair) Krankowski; her seven grandchildren: Eric Krankowski, Jake (Jing-Jing) Krankowski, Ryan Krankowski, Austin Krankowski, John Livanios, Jessica (née Williford) Auman (Clint Auman) and Lauren (née Williford) Kron (Ryan Kron); five great-grandchildren: Colton and Wesley Auman, and George, Wilhelmina (Mina), and Lewis Kron; her brother-in-law, Charles McIntosh, and other in-laws and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be offered on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, at 10:30 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Rd.., Annapolis, MD 21401. Inurnment will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD

Our deepest sympathy to the Krankowski family. June was a very special and kind lady that was loved by so many. Although we had not seen her in many years we kept in touch at Christmas time through our cards and notes. She dedicated her life to her husband and raising the family she loved and adored. She leaves behind many wonderful memories for her friends and family to cherish. Rest in peace June.
