June Marie Miranda, 61, of
Ruther Glen, VA, passed away on January 14, 2026, at Georgetown Hospital in Washington, D.C., with her family by her side.
June was born and raised in
Bridgeton, NJ. She graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1982 and dedicated her life to helping others. She became a nurse in 2010 and continued to care for others until the end. She was known to everyone as the favorite "Aunt June," "June Bug," or, more recently, "Hippie Grandma" to friends and coworkers. She lit up every room she entered and loved being silly and making people happy. She enjoyed going to amusement parks, attending church, coloring, and spending time with her cats, River, Misty, and Oscar.
She is survived by her husband of over 40 years, Ramón Miranda; her children, Jacob Miranda and Madison Miranda; her brother, Warren Hemple (Donna); her sister, Wendy Rieco (Andrew); her in-laws, Luis A. Miranda (Priscilla), Candy and Nick Terrigno, Anna Miranda, and Milagros Miranda; her nieces and nephews, Clarence Hemple Jr., Martin Hemple, Matthew Freund (Sati), Joshua Hemple, Lauren McAllister (Kevin), Catherine Rieco (Maeve), Noah Rieco, Emma Rieco, Raquel Alverado (Danny), Macho Terrigno, Nicole Terrigno, Nick Terrigno, Frank Acosta, Cesar Larringa, Alberto Larringa, Vincent Miranda, Eileen Severa, Stephanie Cabrera, and Misty Miranda.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Warren Hemple; and her siblings, Cindy Hemple and Clarence Hemple.
A service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. There will be a special tribute to honor June's service as a nurse by Central Virginia Nurses Honor Guard. For those unable to attend, the service will be available via livestream.
A celebration of life will be held in New Jersey in the near future for those who are unable to travel to Virginia.
