June Spivy, 92, Springfield, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Mercy Hospital, Springfield.
She was born July 12, 1930 in Dixon, Missouri the daughter of the late Charles and Martha (Kehr) Wright. She had a twin, Jane Wright and a brother, Robert and another sister, Barbara, all of whom have preceded her in death. She graduated from Dupo Community High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to James E. Dismuke in Granite City, Illinois in 1949. After Jim retired from the Air Force in 1970, they made their home in Belleville, Illinois, where he preceded her in death in 1990. Moving to Springfield, Missouri in 1998, she met Clifford Spivy at church. She was then united in marriage to Clifford Spivy of Rogersville, Missouri in 1999, he preceded her in death in 2008. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Julia McElwain in 1984.
June was a wonderful Christian mother and grandmother. She was a 40-year breast cancer survivor. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling on Tuesday mornings in a ladies' bowling league, cake decorating, sewing, collecting and sewing Raggedy Anns and Andys. In her later years, June became quite a sports fan. You never knew what she would be watching on the tv, from baseball, soccer, Nascar, basketball to football.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia McElwain and her husband David, and Susan Joy and Joe Greene; a son, Michael Dismuke and his wife Chris; a granddaughter, Meredith McElwain and Jace Donnelson; a grandson, Alan McElwain and his wife Whitney; two great-grandchildren, Retta and Rory; and many other relatives and friends.
No services are scheduled at this time. A private burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Castaway Animals Rescue Effort, PO Box 215, Aurora, MO 65605.
