June Marie Stevenson passed on to be with The Lord, October 4, 2025, at Helena Square. June lived a very full life --106 years -- right up to days before her death. Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1919 to John (Jack) Reichenbach and Olive Merritt Reichenbach, she attended the Cranbrook School of Art and worked as a model for the J.L. Hudson Company. In 1942, she married Donn Chown and had three children: Donn Chown, II(Too), Toni Ann and Lynn Marie. As a close family they moved around the country and eventually the world: living in Michigan, New York, Viriginia, Jakarta, Indonesia, Tokyo, Japan, Maryland and Beaufort. Over the years she continued her interest in painting, whether it was a portrait or a wall she wanted to redecorate. June and Donn divorced in 1969 and in 1971 she married Robert Martin Stevenson, expanding her family from a portrait to a panorama with Martin's five children.
June was proceeded in heaven by her two husbands and her son. She has gone ahead of her two daughters, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
June was a member of Carteret Street United Methodist Church. She always referred to the members there as her church family and it is quite a large family at that. She attended Sunday School, Church and participated in various activities there as long as she was able.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the excellent and loving care June received at Helena Square. There will be a Celebration of Life at Carteret Street UMC on March 6, 2026, in honor of what would have been June's 107th birthday.
