June (Jones) Velsvaag, age 89, of Pine River, MN went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, June 9, 2025. June was born June 28, 1935, to Charles and Dorothea Jones in Ft. Pierre, SD. In 1940 her family moved to the Pine River, MN area. She was a 1953 graduate of Pine River High School and married John Velsvaag on June 23, 1954. Together, they operated the family dairy farm until the mid-1980’s.
After selling the cows, she worked as a Nursing Assistant at the Good Samaritan Home in Pine River until her retirement. She was a very active member of Maple Hill Lutheran Church including serving as an organist and pianist for almost her entire adult life.
June is survived by sons Tim (Katherine) of Pequot Lakes and Alvin of Pine River; daughters, Serene French of Brooklyn Park, MN and Sharon (Don) Myrum of Copperas Cove, TX; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and all her siblings.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Maple Hill Lutheran Church in Pine River, MN. A visitation will be held the hour prior to the service.
