June Fairweather Walker passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at approximately 5:45 p.m. She was 77 years old.
Born on January 2, 1948, in Seattle, Washington, June was the sixth of seven children of Harold and Theresa Walker. In 1949, the family relocated to California, eventually settling in Marin County, where June spent her formative years. She graduated from Sir Francis Drake High School and earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
In 1970, she married Jack Sewell, and in 1972, they welcomed their son, Jonathan, in Aurora, Colorado. Shortly thereafter, the family returned to California, settling in Trinidad. Following her separation from Jack, June returned to Marin County, where she raised Jonathan with the support of her parents and siblings.
June had a successful career in marketing, working with various broadcasting companies that took her across the Bay Area, Pittsburgh, and Chicago and back to the Bay Area before relocating in 2010 to North Carolina to be closer to Jonathan, his wife Dawn, and her beloved granddaughter, Emma.
June had a vibrant personality, known for her love of puzzles, wordplay, and trivia. She delighted in sharing quirky facts, often surprising others with information they didn’t know they needed. A devoted fan of the San Francisco Giants and 49ers, her greatest passion was her family. She cherished her siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family, embracing friends as if they were an extension of her family.
June is survived by her son, Jonathan; daughter-in-law, Dawn; granddaughter, Emma; sister, Kathrun Parker; brother-in-law, Bob Parker; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends who were just as much part of her family.
A celebration of June’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice in her memory.
