Junius Carter "Junie" Wright

Junius Carter Wright affectionately known as "Junie" to friends and loved ones began his eternal life on October 20, 2025. The all-knowing, all-seeing God decided it was time to release him from his earthly battle.

Junie was gifted into this world on October 11, 1950 in Portsmouth, Virginia. He was born to the late Mary Wright Mitchell.

Junie was educated in the Portsmouth Public School system, graduating from I.C. Norcom High School, in June of 1969. As other students in his community, he felt that education was the "Key to the Future". He graduated, class of 1975, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Norfolk State University.

Junie began his civil service career in 1979 as a Management Trainee with the Department of the Navy. After completion of his training, Junie was promoted to a Budget Analyst with the Department of Navy Gruman Aerospace. As a result of his outstanding performance, he was promoted to a lead position as a Financial Manager with the Office of the Force Comptroller, Department of Navy.

Junius was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Wright Mitchell, grandparents George and O'Neil Bennett, and Uncle Harry Lee Wright. His memory will be cherished forever by his brothers, Clifton Reid Jr. (Deborah) and Gregory Wright, sisters Brenda M. Wright and Denise King, cousin Andre Nolan, special cousin Eunice Elliott Washington, nephews Brandon Wright (Margaret) and Julius Wright, five great nephews and one great niece.

Junie will forever be remembered for his selfless spirit and the unwavering guidance he offered to his family. His generosity knew no bounds - always ready to lend a helping hand and provide for those in need. Above all, he was a man of deep faith, firmly rooted in the greatness, mercy, and grace of God.
