Jusalynn Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Turner Funeral Home - Waynesboro on Jan. 26, 2026.
Jusalyn "Elaine" Sartin Smith was born on a chilly Monday, November 5, 1956, to Dorthy Lane and Charles Sartin of Bogalusa, Louisiana. As she grew, she exemplified her name through her character and mannerism; Jusalyn "joyful" and Elaine "ray of light". She always had something to say to everyone while smiling and exuding laughter. She was a beautiful social butterfly.

Most have been fortunate to receive morning devotionals from her, Christmas cards, get well soon cards, special occasion cards, and her favorite - birthday cards. Each birthday card was followed-up with a 12:00 a.m. birthday call that showcased her singing rendition of "Happy Birthday". NO ONE could serenade you like she could.

Elaine was loved by many but especially her family. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother Joseph, and her sister Jacqueline. Those who will continue to cherish her memories are her six children: LaTisha, LaShandra, Dantel (Yolanda), Alec Sr. (Oneta), Moses, and Matthew (Breyana); grandchildren Porter-Lane (Keanna), Dorthy, McKenzie, Andrea, Alec Jr., Aurielle, Brooklyn, Braiden, and Bryleigh; great-grand children Avarie, Ayven, Lane, and Riley. Memories are also cherished by her mother-figure (aunt) Mrs. J. R. Porter, a special friend, Lenard Clark, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 2:00 PM at St. Luke MB Church, with Rev. Donald Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Serenity Gardens.

Ms. Smith's viewing period will occur Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at St. Luke MB Church.
