Justin Cooley Obituary

Justin W Cooley, 50 of Newton, Utah died on January 10, 2025, at his home in Newton. He was born on March 26, 1974, in Logan, UT and is the youngest child of Richard Grant and Helen Seeley Cooley. Justin attended school in the Cache County School District and graduated from Sky View High School. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Charlotte North Carolina Mission. He attended Utah State University and graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology.

Justin had health challenges from an early age, suffering from scoliosis and chronic asthma. He always had a positive attitude as he underwent two major back surgeries and many hospital stays in his youth and later life. He spent the last 11 years on oxygen. Justin made friends with everyone and was known for his quick dry wit and friendly greetings. Justin had worked at Flying J in Smithfield and at Little Caesars in Logan as a crew member and assistant manager. Justin stayed connected with friends from all stages of his life and supported them throughout their friendship. Justin served on the Newton City Planning and Zoning for several years until he resigned in November of 2024 due to poor health. He is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints having served in several callings. For the last few years, he attended meetings faithfully on Zoom due to his declining health.

Justin is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Pamela and Kenneth Anderson and his brother Jeremy Richard Cooley. Three Nephews Anthony, Nick (wife Dana, daughter Daniella), and Cody (wife Katie) Anderson. He was proceeded in death by his Parents and Grandparents.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 17 at 11 AM at the Newton LDS Church Building 76 S 100 W. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Nelson Funeral Home 85 Main Street in Smithfield and from 9:30 to 10:30 am before the funeral service on Friday. Burial will be in the Newton City Cemetary.

I knew Justin from a singles ward we attended. He was very positive and upbeat and was a pleasure to be around. He hung out with us when we went to USU and was fun to be around. He loved life, treated everybody with kindness an respect. Justin will be missed and is an honor to know him.
