It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Justin Mourning, born on November 22, 1977, who tragically lost his life on September 11, 2024, in Alpharetta, GA. At 46 years old, Justin was a cherished member of his community and a devoted family man.
Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Justin graduated from George Washington High School where he was an avid basketball player. His youth was defined by sense of adventure: snowboarding, water rafting, and biking through the vast mountains of Colorado. As a young father, Justin instilled that same sense of adventure in his daughter Tenlie. He taught her the meaning of fearlessness by taking her to lakes to jump from the rocky cliffs of their home state.
In 2006, Justin met his wife of 17 years, Tiffany (Cooper) Mourning, and became a father to Haden. Together, they moved through the world as a unified front, putting family first, and relying on their unbreakable bond and true love for one another to navigate life's changing tides.
Justin built a successful career as a Sales Director at Lumen Technologies. His professional journey was marked by his relentless dedication to excellence and continual improvement in all aspects of his life. His role at Lumen brought his family to Alpharetta, Georgia where they thrived in the community and culture of the small city. In Georgia, their son Haden followed in his father's athletic footsteps as a passionate baseball player, with Justin attending every game and coaching him from the sidelines.
A true optimist, Justin was a lifelong learner, relentlessly observing people, relationships, ideas, and culture to find the lesson - and the good - in the world around him. As a result, Justin was an anchor and continual source of wisdom for those close to him.
Justin was an active member of North Point Community Church and was on the Board of Directors for the Technology Association of Georgia. His involvement in his community highlighted his generosity and his desire to make a positive impact on those around him.
Justin is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Christy Lynn Mourning. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Tiffany Mourning; his daughter, Tenlie Mourning; his son, Haden Gupton; and his grandmother Myrna D. Mourning. His memory will be lasting, held dearly by his family and all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 26th, at 11 a.m. at NorthPoint Community Church, where friends and family are invited to come together to honor and celebrate Justin's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Justin Mourning to Northpoint Community Church, Care and Crisis Ministry.

Justin was such a positive light in our company. I met him in the Dare to Lead training, he was part of my small group. He always had a smile and words of encouragement, and he was truly one of the most optimistic people I have ever known. He initiated a group chat for us to collaborate and connect, was always the first to offer assistance or to wish us all a great week. He was truly a great colleague. I hope his family can find some comfort in knowing that he touched so many lives with his kindness and positivity. He was a rare and beautiful soul, and I am grateful for the time I had with him.
