FAIR HAVEN - Justin Ryan Schroeder, 44, of Fair Haven, Vt., passed away unexpectedly July 13, 2025.
Justin was born in Middlebury, Vt., May 14, 1981, to Dianne Lynn Schroeder and Stephen Hughes Curavoo.
Justin grew up in Middlebury, and as a boy he loved school and never wanted to miss a day. He loved nature and being outdoors and would often collect souvenirs from nature or leave behind sculptures made by things he found in the woods. He absolutely loved animals and leaves behind two beloved feline companions. Justin was truly a sweet spirit, with a kind and gentle heart. He loved, and was dearly loved by his many cousins, and he especially adored his younger sister, Emmalee.
Justin thought the world of his mother Dianne and considered her to be his rock. Though his father, Steve, lived across the country, Justin loved him and always wished they were able to spend more time together. If there was one thing that he was very good at, it was letting the people that he cared about know that he loved them.
Justin enjoyed music, especially the 90s music he grew up with, and enjoyed sharing music videos from the era with his cousins. He also became interested in Rap music, and made a few videos where he rapped about life, which he also shared. His family holds close the memories they have of Justin, whether just hanging out after school, playing basketball, rollerblading - both inside of the house and out - heading to the snack bar to get a bite to eat, or jump-scaring his Gramma Bev.
As an adult Justin went through many struggles, but with all he went through, he never let it darken his light. He remained the same sweet, loving person right to the very end.
Justin is survived by his father, Stephen Curavoo of California; his younger sister, Emmalee Schroeder-Smith of Salisbury, Vt.; grandmother, Beverly Schroeder of Middlebury, Vt.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Justin was predeceased by his mother, Dianne Schroeder; his step-father, Paul Smith; grandfather, Jerry Schroeder; and aunts, LeAnne Daly Schroeder and Lori (Stevens) Schroeder. Justin's uncle, Kim Schroeder, joined him in Heaven just three days after his own passing.
There will be a celebration of life on September 13 at the Vergennes Legion from 2:00 - 4:00p.m. Please bring your memories and stories to share.
Justin loved animals. If anyone wishes to make a contribution in his memory, they may do so to the Addison County Humane Society.
