Justine Marie Bertrand, 54, of Kaplan, La passed away on May 17, 2025. She was born on April 8, 1971, in Lafayette.
Justine was a lifelong resident of Kaplan. She dedicated her career to serving others as a Cafeteria Technician in the Vermilion Parish School Board for over 20 years. She was also a long-time part-time employee at Kaplan City Hall.
Her love for the community and her infectious laughter will be greatly missed. Justine's legacy of love, compassion, and friendship will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Funeral Service officiated by Deacon Bryan Istre will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church.
A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Cemetery.
She is survived by her father, Melvin Bertrand, Sr. (Matilda); her son, Justin Lege; her siblings, Christine Hebert (Bryan), Kelvin Bertrand, Melvin Bertrand Jr. (Kelly), Cheryl Bertrand, Daniel Bertrand, and Kayla Semien (Michael); her nieces and nephews, Nathan, Alex, Kolby, Abbey, Claire, Christian, Anna, Taya, Harlie, and Austin; her great nieces, Paislee and Ayvee; and a host of family and close friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mae Rose Cashaw.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Bertrand, Kolby Bertrand, Alex Hebert, Kyle Harrington, Christian Bertrand, and Melvin Bertrand Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Lege and Harley LeBlanc.
All funeral arrangements are being conducted by Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan (337) 643-7276.
