Kami Callahan Obituary

Callahan , Kami M. (Sobol)

Dec 9, 1972 - Feb 7, 2026

Passed away peacefully after a valiant battle with cancer. Despite her diagnosis she lived fully and embraced life. Throughout her illness, she was surrounded by the love and support of her extended family and many dear friends. Kami was born and raised in Lackawanna and made her home with her husband and children in Boston, NY. She worked in many jobs where she joyfully helped others. Kami shared her love of reading with the patrons of the Boston Free Library where she was a board member and worked for many years. She loved reading to her little friends during story time at Merit Badge Books. She was an empathetic and compassionate volunteer in the community, a board member of Hamburg Village Engaged where she set up and helped run their free Clothing Closet which served her local community. Kami was a vibrant and much-loved wife and mother who shared much joy, creativity, love and laughter with her family. Kami is survived by her husband, James and their children Liam, Emmet and Kiah, along with her extended family and many dear friends. Kami's family would like to offer special thanks to her doctors and care teams at Roswell Park and Hospice Buffalo. Friends and family may visit Wednesday from 4-7PM at the JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME INC. 3155 Orchard Park Road. 716-675-9027. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Kami's memory to The Boston Free Library, Roswell Park Cancer Institute or Hospice Buffalo. Kami was a beautiful soul. I´m grateful for every visit we had when my family still lived in WNY. She created a beautiful life and always improved the world and lives around her. I´m so sorry that her time with us all has come to an end.

I love you, Kami! I will miss you and your sweetness that is joy turned outward to all of us in your presence. We laughed. We cried. We had babies. We watched our families grow. We both went in our directions and still managed to find each other year over year in the orbit of one another. I will stay in touch with your family, I promise. I am sorry I missed you in your final days on earth. I felt your presence near me over the past weekend and now I know why. You are a trailblazer. You always were! See you on the other side and in the meantime I will experience a connection with you in the shining rays of the sun, in the breathing of the forest, in the ripples of the streams, the skipping of pebbles across the surface, and play of the stars!
love you!

Kami was the embodiment of grace under pressure. Her resolve to fight with everything she had was truly remarkable! It will always be a privilege to call her friend and moon sister! Sending loving hugs to her family, I know she will be deeply missed. May her light continue to burn brightly in the hearts and minds of all who loved her. Dance with the stars, Kami! Until we meet again... Love, Susan Canna”
