KANDI PHILLIPPE-WATSON
It is with much sadness and a heavy heart that I must report the passing of my lovely wife, Kandi. Her war with Ovarian cancer is over. She fought a gallant fight for almost seven years. Her determination to win was ever present from the beginning. No one could have tried any harder to overcome cancer and survive. Even as courageous as she was, the cancer was only delayed and not denied its' outcome.
Kandi was the last member of her core family to pass. Her Mother, Patsy Darling, Father, Paul Kenneth, Brothers: Mark and Paul Walker, all proceeded her in death. She was also preceded by her step-son, Jason Watson.
Kandi is survived by husband, Mike Watson, step-son, Todd Watson, step-grandchildren: Taylor Cooksey, Kensie Jackson, Drew Watson, Norah Watson, Will Watson and Finn Watson. Also surviving are step-great grandsons: Dallas Jackson, Callum and Colter Cooksey. Additional survivors are scores of extended family and friends that knew and loved her. Too many to list.
Kandi was a 1967 graduate of Warren Central High School. Her work career was a varied one, as Personnel Manager for Texscan Electronics Manufacturer and almost twenty years with Edward Jones as a Senior Branch Office Administrator, officially retiring in 2025. Kandi was in her environment working lovingly with individuals and assisting clients with her vast knowledge as she loved what she did. She had a patient and kind demeaner to mentor new employees to reach their full potential. Having a heart of service made it difficult for her to retire.
A special thank you goes out to Dr. Michael Callahan and Molly Jackson, RN of the St. Vincent Oncology Team. Their years of dedication as they cared for Kandi and continuously strived for a better outcome were paramount in maintaining a high quality of life for Kandi.
Another big shout out goes to the Infusion Nurses at St. Vincent Infusion Center that were seen frequently and came to be almost family. Lastly, the family would like to recognize the compassionate care Suburban Hospice provided. Especially, Colleen for making Kandi's final days as comfortable as possible. It was important for Kandi to remain in our home throughout her final days. Suburban care team supported us & helped make that possible.
We shared forty-six challenging and wonderful years together. For those of us left behind, take joy in knowing that each of us held a special pace in Kandi's heart. Remember her in your own special way, as we strive to keep her memory alive in the years to come.
Lastly, one heartfelt thank you to family and friends who directly contributed to Kandi's care. It provided a welcomed relief to her husband during this time of transition. Everyone contributing their thoughts and prayers to us, I thank you as well. We could feel the love.
The world has lost a truly good person and an asset to us all.
REST IN PEACE, SWEETIE.
