It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kandis Lea Backlund on January 30, 2025, at the age of 63. Kandis or "Kandi" as she was known by her friends and family was born on November 15, 1961, in Denver, Colorado to Varner A. (Buzz) and Shirley Jean (Green) Backlund.
Kandi grew up in Kiowa, Colorado graduating Kiowa Schools in 1979. Several years after graduating she followed an employer to Fontana, California where she met her husband of 30 years, Bobbie Jones. They made a life together and moved north to Cottonwood, California. Kandi enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, entertaining and playing golf.
Kandi was preceded in passing by her parents Varner and Shirley Backlund, her brother Kurt Steven Backlund, and her niece Jessica Michelle Fleming.
Kandi is survived by her sister, Vera Kim Fleming (Randy) of Parker, Colorado, her brother, Varner (Kip) A Backlund III (Mary) of Flagler, Colorado, former husband, Bobbie Jones of Cottonwood, California. Her beloved nieces and nephew and their families, Kelly Backlund (Jesse Watson) of Parker, Colorado, Kendra Forney (Scott) of Boulder City, Neveda, Keri Bell (Silvan) of Kiowa, Colorado, Matt Fleming (Katy) of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Melissa Lombardo (Chris) of Thornton, Colorado, Kayla Schnieder (Rob) of Parker, Colorado and Breanna Moon (Brian) of Westminster, Colorado. Kandi is also survived by her stepsons, Bobbie Jones (Christine) of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Ricky Jones (Patty) of Beaumont, California and their families.
Kandi was kind and generous to all she met and will be greatly missed.
Kandi has chosen to be cremated, with her remains to be scattered in places where she and Bobbie spent many wonderful days camping and fishing as well as with his parents in Elizabeth, Colorado. A celebration of Kandi's life will be held in Elizabeth, Colorado, at a later date to be determined. We invite family and friends to leave condolences or share memories at www.sweetolsen.com.
