Kane Vincent Shonkwiler, Age 8, of Greenwood, Indiana, taught everyone around him the true meaning of strength. He ended his brave battle with osteosarcoma on November 7, 2025, in his parents' arms, surrounded by those who loved him.
Kane was born on September 23, 2017, to parents Levi Shonkwiler and Hillary White. His quick wit and sweet innocence made every situation brighter, turning ordinary moments into memories. He could make friends out of strangers and enjoyed exchanging stories with those who would listen. Kane loved exploring virtual reality, laughing by the fire, drinking chocolate milkshakes (no whip cream), scrolling YouTube, playing Roblox, relaxing in the pool, lighting off fireworks, and he was the best dancer. He enjoyed back scratches from his grandma, racing his big brother on the go-kart track, going on adventures with his cousins, and making those around him laugh. Above all, Kandy Kane cherished moments of fun and laughter with his dad and cuddling with his mom.
Kane is deeply loved by his parents, Levi and Hillary; his big brother Axl (10); his grandparents, Richard Shonkwiler and Brenda Blomberg, Tammi and Jeff Heffley; his great-grandmother, Judy Blomberg; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who adored him.
From his laughter to his love of capybaras, Kane created so much happiness. We'll carry his spirit in our hearts. "Don't be sad-be capy."
Visitation will be held at Jessen Funeral Home in New Whiteland, Indiana on November 13, from 4pm-8pm. A memorial service will be held the following afternoon Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11am.
