Kara Ann Mazzoni Eirdosh, 51, of
Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025. Kara was the heart and soul of her family, and lived a life defined by compassion, loyalty, and selflessness.
Kara was born on June 20, 1974, in
Wynnewood, PA to James and Nancy Mazzoni (nee O'Neill). Kara is survived by her loving son, Jackson, and her beloved husband, Ian; her mother and father, James and Nancy; her brothers, Michael (Tamara) and Matthew (Maryellen), as well as her nieces and nephews, Mila, Emma, Justin and Luke and her dear, lifelong friend Colleen Hutchinson, and her caring Godmother, Sue Carter.
Kara grew up in
Devon, PA, and, after graduating from the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, she went on to graduate from the University of Dayton.
It was Kara's nature to put others before herself. After college she started a job at Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) that became a lifelong career, one that catered to her values and strengths-caring for others in need. Over two decades as a service coordinator, Kara had a gift for advocating expertly and tirelessly for the many people in her care who loved and depended on her. Her dedication was inspiring. She also gained lasting personal friendships.
In 2004, Kara met Ian Eirdosh. They married on November1, 2008. Kara was a dedicated and loyal wife to her husband. They found a home on Stillman Street in Fairmount and greatly enjoyed their city life and community. Together they experienced the joy of becoming parents in 2011 when Jackson was born. Kara loved building their home life and family with Ian, happily raising Jackson there.
Jackson was Kara's absolute greatest pride and joy. She was a deeply engaged and committed mother. She taught Jackson values and the importance of kindness. Kara devoted herself to ensuring that Jackson experienced the best opportunities available to him in their little spot in the city, whether it be sports camps, rowing, time with friends, sporting the best costumes and gear and, most importantly, sending Jackson to Saint Francis Xavier School from Pre-K through 8th grade. Kara would be so proud to see Jackson graduate from St. Francis and move on to attend La Salle College High School as a freshman next fall.
Kara's extended family has so many memories to cherish over the years, and this included happy holidays, summer vacations in Ocean City, and winters skiing in the Poconos, all with her brothers and close friends and fun trips to see her Florida cousins.
More recently, Kara, Ian and Jackson spent summer vacation weeks in Vermont at Lake Catherine, relaxing on the water with Ian's parents and Jackson's grandparents, John and Rosanna, and the Eirdosh family and friends. They enjoyed fishing, boating, games, summer reading and endless jumping off the pier.
Kara was a proud mother, a loyal wife, loving daughter, and supportive sister and friend, and her spirit and humor were at the heart of every gathering. Known for her joyous laugh and beautiful smile, Kara approached life with adventure, but also with compassion and calm. As a friend, Kara was a pillar of support. As a family member, Kara was her Dad's shining light, a devoted daughter who loved and spoke often of both of her parents, Jim and Nancy. Kara was lucky to have a mother who was also her best friend, and two grandmothers to welcome her.
Kara's legacy lives on in her son Jackson, and in the many lives she touched personally and professionally. Kara loved much and was much loved in return. Our loving memories of Kara are ours forever.
A funeral mass will be held at Saint Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 2319 Green Street,
Philadelphia, PA on Friday, January 30. There will be a visitation time from
9:30-11 and mass at 11. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kara's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Kara's memory to St. Francis Xavier School, 24th & Wallace St.,
Philadelphia, PA 19130.
