Ernest Elwood "Man Walker" Walker

Ernest's Journey

Ernest Elwood Walker, affectionately known as "Man Walker" and "Uncle Man," the beloved son of the late James and Odessa Walker, was born on May 24, 1963, in Pungoteague, Virginia. He peacefully departed this life on March 5, 2026, at the home of his loving sister, Hattie Reid.

Ernest attended Accomack County Public Schools and was a student at T.C. Walker High School in Accomac, Virginia. In his early years, he worked at Holly Farms and was known for doing side jobs whenever he could to lend a helping hand to others.

"Man," as he was known by many, loved people and never met a stranger. His great sense of humor kept everyone laughing, and he brought joy wherever he went. One of his favorite places to visit was Ocean Way, where he formed a special friendship with the owner, Calvin.

His greatest joy came when he gave his life to the Lord on Tuesday, March 3, 2024, under Minister Charlette whom graciously led Ernest to Christ. Ernest faithfully attended Abundant Life Faith Church in Tasley, Virginia, where his sister, Pastor Hattie Reid, serves as leader.

In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Knox and Janice Custis; one brother, David Theodore Walker; nieces, Marshall Reid, Shirley Walker, Janet Harmon, Virgie Walker Davis, and Shirley Yvette Walker; nephews, Dwayne Walker, Leotoles Walker Reid, Erion Walker, Octavious Walker Mapp, Ralph Walker, and Leonard Walker.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories five sisters and one brother: Annie Lowther of Belle Haven, Virginia; Hazel (K.C.) Kellam of Wachapreague, Virginia; Hattie (Charlie) Reid of Painter, Virginia; Linda (George) Mason of Accomac, Virginia; Doretha James of Montgomery, Georgia; and Henry (Naomi) Walker of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Ernest shared a special bond with several nieces, Lauketta Reid, Anesha Giddens, Janice Walker, and Nyoka Hendricks. He also held a special place in his heart for nephews Bryant Walker, Dewann Wise, William Battle, and Davion Walker.

He will also be remembered by his very special friend, Pastor Scott Sample, and three dear friends who meant so much to him: Shelia Johnson, Lisa Duffy Finney, and Teresa Wilkins; and his devoted Hospice Nurses who took great care of Ernest in his final days.

Ernest "Man Walker" Walker will be remembered for his laughter, his kindness, and the love he shared with everyone he met.
