Karan Ann Satterlee, a vibrant soul whose laughter was as contagious as her love for the Buffalo Bills, left us on August 23, 2025, following a brief illness. Born on November 8, 1956, in Buffalo, New York, Karan's zest for life began early and never waned. She departed this world from Sandusky, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy of joy, adventure, and the kind of humor that could light up even the gloomiest Erie winter day.
Buffalo may have given her the gift of life, but Erie, Pennsylvania, shaped her into the force of nature she became. A proud graduate of Strong Vincent High School, Karan's personality was too big to be confined to one city. Her career at Just Pants in Erie saw her rise to the challenge, and a transfer to Sandusky as a manager in her mid-20s turned out to be a love affair of a lifetime with the city by the bay.
Karan's work history was as colorful as her collection of sunglasses. She was the life and soul of Johnny Angels, where she earned the nickname Snow White-not just for her fair complexion but for her ability to charm every creature in the forest, be they two-legged or four. Karan never met a stranger; every person was a friend waiting to be made. Her generosity was legendary-she was always there with a helping hand or a joke to ease your troubles.
Her family was the cornerstone of her life. Though her parents, William Dana and Patricia Ann Satterlee, her brother Timothy Allen Satterlee, and her beloved puppy Juliet preceded her in death, Karan's memory is cherished by her brother Thomas Dana Satterlee and his wife Aysin, their children Jaylin Ann, Selin Dana, and Joshua Kyle Wasielewski, as well as Timothy's sons Davis, Alex, and Mason Satterlee. And let's not forget her precious dog Bella, who continues to wait for the sound of her laughter.
Karan's circle of friends was as wide and varied as her interests. Julianne Fails of Erie, PA, Goulia Matthews, Mary Haar, Connie Carruthers, Suzann Ahlers, and Earnie Davis, and Bob Bickley, affectionately known as "Sandusky Bob"-all from Sandusky-knew they had a friend in Karan who would drop everything for a Cedar Point adventure or a night out on the town.
A Christian by faith, Karan lived a life that reflected the joy of her beliefs. She was an AVID Buffalo Bills fan-capital letters necessary to convey the depth of her commitment. Her love for music, decorating, and her infamous sunglasses collection were just a few facets of her adventurous spirit.
To sum up Karan's approach to life, let's borrow a quote from the inimitable Robin Williams: "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." Karan not only kept her spark but fanned it into a bonfire that warmed all who knew her. Her laughter was a symphony, her sense of humor a beacon, and her capacity to love a treasure.
Loving, adventurous, funny-these words are mere understatements when it comes to describing Karan. As we bid her farewell, let's honor her by living as she did: embracing every moment with gusto, never passing up the chance to make a new friend, and always-always-rooting for the Bills, come rain or shine. Karan Ann Satterlee, you will be dearly missed, but your spirit will continue to inspire laughter and love in the hearts you've left behind.
Friends may call Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 10am until the time of the Memorial Service at 12pm at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Ohio 44870. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at Oakland Cemetery.
