She was born April 26, 1948 in Olean, NY, the daughter of George and Iris (Clyde) Hardes.
Karen was a 1965 graduate of Otto Eldred High School and attended nursing school.
She worked as a packer at Pierce Glass Company, now Ardagh Group, in Port Allegany, PA. She was employed there for 45 years.
Karen enjoyed spending time with her family, crafting, painting, crocheting, and paper quilling.
She is survived by:
A daughter: Laura Burdge of Dillsburg, PA
A son: Allen Bigley of Eldred, PA
Grandchildren: Britta Marie Bigley and Carrie Clayton
Great grandchildren: Evelyn, Everett and Emersyn Clayton
A brother: George Hardes of Warren, PA
A sister: Kathryn (Harry, Jr.) Martin of Eldred, PA
And several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents.
There will be no visitation or services. Burial will be in the family cemetery by the family.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org)

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., Smethport.
