Karen Henderson Bruin, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2025, surrounded by her family in Ogden, Utah. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Edis to Ileen Bell Henderson and was raised in Riverdale, UT, and graduated from Weber High School.
Karen retired after 26 years as a civilian from Hill Air Force Base.
She loved sports. In her earlier years she played women’s softball, co-ed softball, volleyball, and bowled, but her true passion was golf.
Karen loved spending time with her family and friends.
Karen is survived by her children, Todd (Kristi) McElyea and Dana (Justin) Woodland; 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, and 2 sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Monte Bruin in 2019; her son, Brett McElyea in 2013; daughter-in-law, Honeydawn McElyea in 2024; grandson, Austin McElyea in 2014; and her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
The family requests no flowers.
