Karen Elizabeth Dorman, 74, of Pea Ridge, Florida, passed away peacefully in her home on January 11, 2023, with her husband and daughter by her side.
Karen was born on September 20, 1948, in Pensacola, Florida to her mother Dolores and her father J. C. She worked as a nurse at Baptist Hospital and the Medical Center Clinic until her well-earned retirement in 2011. Karen prioritized her family above everything else in her life, and she never met a stranger. She was a compassionate and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who was always there for anyone whenever they needed her. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, watching movies, going on road trips, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known for her grace, kindness, and compassionate spirit.
Karen was preceded in death by her mother Dolores Whatley, father J. C. Chandler, and sisters Joan and Phyllis.
Karen will be lovingly remembered and is survived by her husband of 42 years, Steve; her daughter, Julie (Bill); grandchildren, Hayley (Ryan), Alex (Haley), and Amy; great-grandchildren, Eliseo, Elizabeth, Abigail, Michael, Kaze, and Ian; sisters Jackie and Kim; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at 3:00 pm at Pleasant Home Baptist Church, 8500 Pleasant Home Church Rd, Holt, FL 32564 and officiated by Father Anthony MacWhinnie of Saint Monica's Episcopal Church in Cantonment, Florida. Her ashes will be interred at a later date.
