Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tabor Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Brighton on Sep. 23, 2025.
Karen Therese Anthony Dutch was born June 30, 1957 to Jack Anthony and Helen Jagelski in Cincinnati,Ohio. She married the love of her wife David Dutch December 12, 1981
By chance her father was transferred to Denver after high school graduation. Her wonderful childhood of playing with friends and summers at the beach was about to be rocked forever when she was introduced to the West. " You can see so much more" she used to say, and much more to see was her future. Graduating from Colorado State University in Fort Collins in marketing and merchandising. She made lifelong friends, got her first puppy Casey Stengel. A life long love of dogs lead to Maggie, Aztec, Patch, Dizzy, EstesPark, Dazey and Merlin. She also found her soul mate, Davey. Two years later they married.
Starting a family and then moving to Scott City, Kansas was the perfect place for her new son, Ryan Anthony's first year. Colorado Springs became home for the next 35 years where a second son, Justin Mathew completed their family. Daycare, school room mother, scout den leader, devoted baseball and hockey mom. She never missed a game or award's ceremony. Very proud of her center fielder and right winger. Home making was her love and life.
Laughing and playing kids were ever present as her home was known as the one that had a welcome mom inside and was always open which led to making more dear friends. Caring for her mother after her father's passing ignited a caregiving passion that lead to multiple volunteerings in hospitals and elderly facilities.
The mountains of the west was her Zen. From midnight canoeing on Echo Lake, Montana to whale watching and fishing in Cabo San Lucas. Also lugging a backpack across Europe for her 25th anniversary. Her life had countless National Geographic moments. The rock collection grew bigger every year. The "Land" became a restful getaway and second home. Roughing it with your morning coffee by the fire, dodging the hummingbirds filled her with spiritual peace.
Building and moving to Hudson, she got her house on the prairie, where she could walk in her flower garden and enjoy sunrises, sunsets, wildlife and the open spaces.
Two grandkids gave her a new life. Nana was the best co-artist on drawings, puzzle helper and learning so many games was her happy fulfillment of family and life. Thanks to the photos sent and face timing, the distance between them became small for many blessed visits and she was able to experience the so many captured moments over and over with joy and laughter.
Karen is survived by her husband David, sons Ryan and Justin, daughter-in-law Emma Faulkner, grandson Jack, granddaughter Lily and numerous cousins and relatives back east.
Devotion to her family, friends, love of traveling, camping, laughter and loving life sums her up, she will be missed.
