Our beloved wife and mother, Karen Fagliarone, 64, of Estero, Florida passed away peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2025.
Karen was born and raised in Plainfield, Illinois to Raymond and Elizabeth (Toth) Koerner. Her family shares many fond memories of her youth and all of the family gatherings. Karen was very popular among her Aunts, Uncles, and many cousins. She later displayed her athletic talents on local track and softball teams.
Karen developed a diligent work ethic as a barber in the early years of her career, then in an advertising office, and most recently as a hotel night auditor. Throughout her career, she was recognized for her dedication to customer service. Known for her common sense and humor, Karen was reliably a hard worker, both in her professional and personal life.
Upon starting her own family, Karen became a fantastic cook, a skill passed down from her mother, Liz. It gave her great joy to cook for large gatherings of family and friends, where she could see everyone laughing and having fun together. We all looked forward to any dishes she prepared, knowing that all of our favorites would be on the menu. We also knew that there would be plenty to take home afterwards, as she prepared at least twice the amount that was needed -another tradition passed down from her mom.
Karen enjoyed living the last 25 years of her life in Estero, Florida. She thoroughly enjoyed the warm weather, sunshine, and spending time at the beach with family and friends.
For her entire life, Karen put the happiness of others ahead of her own. She was a caring, giving person, which she continued even in death. Karen was a registered organ donor, and it provided us great comfort as we learned of her life-saving gifts to recipients in need.
Karen is pre-deceased by her mother, Elizabeth Koerner (Toth); and survived by her husband, Vincent Fagliarone; her daughters, Candice and Christa; her son, Jacob; two grandsons, Michael and Chase; her father, Raymond Koerner; siblings, Ron (Lucinda) and Cheri; her niece, nephew, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Karen did not want a funeral or a service. She wished to be cremated, and a private family ceremony will be held to honor her. If you wish to honor her memory with a donation in lieu of flowers, please do so with a gift to your favorite charity. Or better still, consider registering to be an organ donor.
We had the privilege of being part of Karen's life, though not nearly long enough. We want to encourage everyone with a quote shared by Karen's best friend:
Appreciate the little things in life, for one day you'll look back and realize that they were the big things.
