Karen Ann Fallon, 84, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025, peacefully in her home in Tyner, North Carolina.
Mrs. Fallon was born in Sussex County, NJ on July 6, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Balaz Dekmar and Anna Teresa Psake Dekmar, who were born in Ogdensburg, NJ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John “Fly” Samuel Fallen, formerly of Tyner, NC; and her two brothers, Alan Dekmar, formerly of Lolo, MT, and Ronnie Dekmar, formerly of Cookeville, TN.
Surviving are her brother, Eugene Dekmar of Wantage, NJ; her sister, Gayle Wells of Las Vegas, NV; three children, , a son, Johnny Fallon of Tyner, NC, a son, Christopher Fallon and his wife, Aimee of Orlando, FL, and a daughter, Johanna “Joey” Waldron and her husband, Rodney of Tyner, NC; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Karen was lovingly nicknamed “Mimi” by all of her grandchildren and preferred to be called that by everyone in her later years. She spent most of her adult life in Virginia Beach, VA, Sterling, VA and Tyner, NC. She was employed as a Florist for a few different flower shops during her time in Virginia Beach, VA. When she moved to Sterling, VA, she began her freelance florist career and never retired from doing this. Other enjoyments included her love of gardening, cooking, crossword puzzles, and watching Jeopardy every evening at 7:00 p.m. Most of all she enjoyed helping others.
She was a Lifetime Member of the UDT/Seal Association, and helped with many socials, reunions and events for them. She also was a member of Hertford United Methodist Church, was active with the United Methodist Women, the HUMC Annual Church Bizarre and enjoyed volunteering at the Soup Kitchen.
One of Karen’s final wishes was that everyone wear a little “pop of red”, her favorite color. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Hertford United Methodist Church, 200 Dobbs Street, Hertford, NC 27944.
