Karen Sue Freehling, 81, of Bridgman passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at Caretel Inns St. Joseph.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9650 Church St., Bridgman, MI 49106, with the Rev. Dr. Douglas Krengel officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.
Karen was born on June 19, 1943, in St. Joseph, the daughter of the late Zachariah and Mineva (Reber) McPherson. On June 15, 1963, she married Dale Freehling and he preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 2011. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Over the years, Karen had been employed at Peoples State Bank and Horizon Bank. She enjoyed crafting, quilting and ceramics.
Survivors include three children: Michael (Lora) Freehling, Steven Freehling and Marcia (Michael) Kackmeister; six grandchildren: Mason, Olivia, Mineva and Lily Freehling, Jacob and Amanda Kackmeister; and one sister, Lois (Nick) Zender.
Karen was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jann Freehling.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman.
