Karen Joy Geary died on June 5, 2024 at the Embrace Hospice Home where she received excellent care.
Her mother told her once that she should leave this earth, a better place than she found it. Karen took this to heart and lived a life to make it better. She put the needs of others ahead of herself and worked at helping people feel better about themselves. Karen made this a priority for her family. Her children felt loved and secure. She was an encourager and affirmer to her husband Bruce, in his relationship with Jesus and his calling to be a pastor. Karen, too, had a calling as an ordained Deacon in the Anglican Church in 2006.
She did this outside the family by being an employee and employer, coaching, officiating, being a Christian witness, acquaintance, and friend. Karen made sure thousands of children and adults learn how to swim, and hundreds of women know the truth about Jesus Christ by starting Bible studies, having one-on-one talks, and sharing in small groups. She complimented women on how they dressed, which perked them up, knowing someone noticed and cared. The six people she brought back to life using CPR appreciated her skill and willingness to act fast.
She wasn't perfect, but God had a mission for her and provided the gifts to carry it out.
Thank you, Karen, for caring for so many and absolutely leaving this place and people better than she found it on July 30, 1939.
Karen's service will be held at the Church of the Good Samaritan in Paoli, PA, which was our home church before seminary for 23 years. Well done, good and faithful servant.
