Obituary of Karen A. Hatch

Karen A. (Bowden) Hatch, age 78, of Bucksport, Maine, passed away peacefully with family by her side on September 15, 2025.

Karen was born on October 16, 1946, in Castine, Maine, to Harriet (Leach) Bowden and Carl William Bowden Sr. She grew up surrounded by family and community, carrying with her the values of kindness, resilience, and love that shaped her life.

Karen's hardworking spirit showed itself early, as she began working at just 12 years old. Throughout her life, she remained dedicated and reliable, always giving her best in everything she did.

She will be remembered as a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. Karen's warmth, generosity, and sense of humor touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She found joy in gardening, discovering unique antiques, supporting the charities she cared for deeply, and in her love for animals - especially her dog, Baby.

Karen is survived by her son, William L. Robbins Jr., and his wife, Nadine Robbins, of Orland; her daughter, Michele Nevells, and her husband, Richard E. Nevells Jr., of Bucksport; her sisters, Bonnie Chubbuck and her husband, Neil Chubbuck, of Edgecomb, and Faith Winchester and her partner, Douglas Tweedie, of Orland. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Brandon Nevells, Ryan Nevells, and Austin Robbins, as well as many nieces and nephews who were very special to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harriet and Carl; her sisters, Carlene Bowden and Kathy Gray; and her brothers, Brandon Bowden and Carl W. Bowden Jr.

Her family and friends will cherish the countless memories they shared with her - from family parties and the joy of over-spoiling her loved ones at Christmas time, to the quiet moments of love and guidance she so freely gave.

Karen will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love in the hearts of all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Together, we will share memories, laughter, and love in remembrance of Karen, whose warmth, kindness, and spirit touched so many lives. All who knew and loved her are welcome.
