Karen S. Hensel, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2024, at the age of 73, in her hometown of Hopedale, MA.
Karen was born on February 6, 1951, in Milford, MA, the daughter of the late Roy Cutter and Gladys (Moore) Tiffany. She graduated from Hopedale High School, the Class of 1969.
For 25 years, Karen was the respected and beloved Administrator of the Hopedale Unitarian Parish. Her work was more than a job; it was a calling that allowed her to touch the lives of countless individuals. She was a pillar of the parish, known for her organizational skills, her warm smile, and her ability to make everyone feel at home.
She is survived by her devoted husband, David G. Hensel, with whom she shared 50 years of love and adventure. Together, they raised two daughters, Julie H. Fitzgerald of Uxbridge and Lola Cutter Hensel of Austin, TX. Karen's sister, Sue Cutter and her wife Shirley Jurkowski of Ellington, CT; along with her sister-in-law, Kim Morreale and her husband Rich of Franklin, who also survive her, sharing in the family's loss.
Karen's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Ryan Fitzgerald, Bruce Dubinsky, Ripley Hickman, and Elliott Hickman, who brought immense joy and laughter to her life.
Traveling the world was one of Karen's greatest pleasures. She believed in the power of new experiences and the beauty of discovering different cultures. However, she found her greatest joy in the simple moments spent with her grandchildren, whether it was a quiet afternoon reading books or a lively family gathering. She was also especially close with her sister Sue, they were inseparable. Karen made countless happy memories with her husband in Plymouth, especially during summers with her grandson.
Karen S. Hensel's life was a journey of love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to the values she held dear. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Karen was a wonderful, thoughtful, caring friend. I remember her first from our time working together at Hopedale Unitarian. During the ministry of Richard Drinon at Hopedale , four of us became good friends, Janet, Karen, Kavita and I. After his passing we met monthly to celebrate his life and enjoy our friendship. Karen had a great laugh and sense of humor - she enjoyed keeping us laughing. A few months ago we had the joy of attending Karen and David's 50th Wedding Anniversary. It was so wonderful to see family and friends gather for such a joyous event. Karen , I miss you, you will never be forgotten.....
