Karen Lou (Marchand) Hokanson passed unexpectedly on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the age of eighty-four. Karen is the sole child of Louis and Eleanor Marchand. She graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1959 and attended the University of Minnesota. Karen met Chet Hokanson at the "U" and married in September 1961.
Karen had a heart for service; immersing herself in volunteer activities at church, Boy Scouts, twenty-five years with Fairview Southdale and hospitals in the Knoxville, Tennessee area in retirement. Karen loved spending time vacationing at DisneyWorld and enjoyed "the magic" on every visit.
Karen is preceded in death by parents Louis Joseph Marchand and Eleanor Constance Marchand; as well as her husband of over forty-six years, Chet Hokanson.
Karen is survived by her three children Eric (Rebecca) Hokanson, Kimberly (Alec) Gorjestani, Troy (Melissa) Hokanson. Karen loved her five grandchildren, Noah, Michael, Sophia, Katherine and Matthew, fiercely.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 2:00 PM at St. Phillip the Deacon Lutheran Church in Plymouth with the funeral service commencing immediately afterwards at 3:00 PM. Private interment at Fort Snelling.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Karen's charity of choice; Soldiers6 https://soldiers6.com/. Soldiers6 is a designated 501c3 organization that provides service animals and professional training to military veterans, police officers, firefighters and others who battle with traumatic mental health symptoms. www.Washburn-McReavy.com
