MADISON/FITCHBURG – Karen Sue Johannsen, age 66, passed away December 26, 2025, at UW Hospital in Madison.
A Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Cress Center, 6021 University Ave., Madison, WI 53705. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the Cress Center, with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. How can a brightly shining sun disappear in a moment? The best of employers, my skiing buddy that upgrades my new downhill skills (at 26) by saying your belly button is a spotlight & ought to always be pointing downhill. And it work...my upper body oriented downhill & my hips swivels to accommodate turns. WE spent many TwoFer Tuesday at Cascade, skiing the whole time! And once we road at Dodgeville but it was not as fun as her exerpiences in the islands. Vaya Con Dios, Karen.

Karen, dear Karen. Gone too soon for the world. Sincere condolences to family and friends. Karen was my number one frog hunter while at the Greenhouse. She was always on the lookout and called when new frogs appeared. She enjoyed being my partner in frog hunting to surprise my collector spouse, Karen's heaven must be paved with so much love, and nature.
