Karen Clark Johnston, 84, of Statesville, born on May 26, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, at her residence, following a period of declining health. She was a cherished member of her community and an unwavering beacon of love and support for her family.

Karen dedicated much of her professional life as a Data Processor in the banking industry, where her meticulous attention to detail and dedication shone brightly. Known for her beautiful smile and polite demeanor, she touched the lives of many with her kindness.

A proud graduate of Riverside High School in Ohio, Karen was a deeply family-oriented woman who always put her loved ones first. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she consistently sought ways to help others, embodying the values of compassion and generosity.

She enjoyed a fulfilling life filled with hobbies and interests that brought her joy, particularly her love for reading and crocheting, through which she crafted many afghans over the years. Karen was of the Christian faith, which guided her throughout her life and provided comfort to her and those around her.

Karen will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband of 62 years, Rex Johnston; her two sons, Rex Johnston, Jr. (Paulette) and Gary Johnston (Dawn); and her daughter, Bonnie Lett. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Paul Johnston, Desirea Kenenske (Ryan), Megan Alexander-Johnston, Amber Nantz (Austin), Audrey Berndt (Sean), and Shelby Lett, as well as nine great-grandchildren, Antigone, Trevor, Spencer, Ellie, Paislee, Delaney, Sawyer, Charli, Jaden, and one on the way. also surviving are three brothers, Dennis Clark (Sandy), Kevin Clark (Vickie) and Keith Clark (Donna).

She was preceded in death by her father, John Clark; mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Burr Clark; and three brothers, John Clark, Bobby Clark, and Larry Clark.

A graveside service will be held in her honor on November 14, 2025, at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville, North Carolina with the Rev. Dr. Tony Bell officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at 1:00 PM for a time of remembrance, with the service beginning at 1:00 PM.

Karen's legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She will be missed dearly but remembered lovingly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
