Karen Virginia Krieger-Edwards, 75, Edenton, NC, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
Born in Augusta, GA, Karen was the wife of David Samuel Edwards, III and the daughter of Robert Lyman Krieger, Sr. and Sara Frances McLarty Krieger, both deceased. Karen was a long-time educator with the Virginia Beach Schools and later retired from the Gates County Schools in North Carolina. She was an avid Virginia Tech Hokies fan. Karen had a great love for music, playing the guitar, and loved her dogs and cats dearly. She will be truly missed by all that knew her.
Survivors include her husband, David; an older brother, Robert L. “Bob” Krieger, Jr. and wife, Bonnie of Hampton, VA; younger brothers, Bill Krieger of Tabb, Va, Jack Krieger and wife, Patty of Horntown, VA, Rick Krieger and wife, Linda of Snow Hill, MD; a younger sister, Lynn Krieger Hines and husband, Mitch of Greenbackville, VA; stepchildren, Rachel Yacovissi and husband, Adam of Rock Hill, SC, Brian Edwards of Elizabeth City, NC, and Paul Edwards of Canton, OH; brother-in-law, Glenn Edwards and wife, Vicki of Union Bridge, MD; sisters-in-law, Margaret Horst of Cary, NC, and Marcia Edwards of New Windsor, MD; and five nephews, four nieces and numerous extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by an older brother, Jim Krieger; brother-in-law, Thomas “Tommy” Edwards and his wife, Laura; sister-in-law, Carol Krieger; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dr. David Samuel Edwards, Jr., DVM and Esther Irene Edwards.
A memorial service celebrating Karen’s life will be held at a later date.
