Karen Moos, 69, of Breckenridge, MN, formerly of Moorhead, MN, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Karen was born June 27, 1956, to Reuben and Loraine (Reister) Moos. She grew up in Glyndon, MN, the oldest of seven siblings, and she graduated from Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton High School. Karen later continued her education at Minnesota State University Moorhead where she earned her accounting degree. In 1989, Karen gave birth to her daughter, Caroline, who was the joy of her life.
Karen had a caring heart and found her life’s joy in helping others. She worked for years at local nursing homes and schools, feeding and caring for others. And she volunteered often to support others, like helping prepare taxes for low-income neighbors with a local nonprofit and spending time in the Good Shepherd church nursery.
In her spare time, Karen enjoyed putting her hands to work. You could frequently find her in the kitchen cooking and baking, which was her favorite way to show love. Her family will miss her chicken rice and apple crisp the most. Karen was also a very talented craftswoman. She adored sewing, crocheting, and knitting. If you ever saw Karen, chances were she had a project in her hands or her bag that she would love to show off. Finally, Karen loved thrift shopping with her daughter, Caroline—usually with a hazelnut latte in hand. Their special, secondhand finds are something Caroline will treasure for the rest of her life. Karen will be missed beyond measure.
Karen is survived by her daughter, Caroline Moos; brothers, Harvey (Penny) Moos, David (Kathy) Moos; sisters, Peggy Oltoff, Nancy Moos, Mary (Paul) Horsley, Shirley (Robert) Oswald; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Loraine Moos.
Karen’s Visitation will be Monday, August 25, from 12:00 - 1:00 PM, followed by the memorial service at 1:00 PM, at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead, MN. For those unable to join us in person, the service will be live streamed.
