Karen Lee Olson (Hartz), 84, of Madison, passed away on February 20, 2025.
Born in Austinburg, Ohio, she grew up primarily in Eagleville, Ohio, and remained an Ohio resident all her life.
Karen was truly loved and cherished by her family and friends.
You simply can't summarize her lifetime of love and generosity in a few paragraphs. She was compassionate and selfless, known for always worrying about others and putting them before herself. She had a beautiful smile that lit up a room and made everyone feel special. Her greatest roles were being a mom, daughter, sister, and aunt, in a family who loved her deeply.
Karen's nurturing spirit also extended to her furry companions. She loved animals big and small, generously loving, spoiling, and rescuing many in her lifetime.
She loved beautiful flowers, and her favorite hobby was flower gardening. Her other hobbies included dancing, music, puzzles, reading, and spreading kindness around, much like the wildflowers she loved.
Her daughter, Michele Taylor, was her best friend, daily connection, and life-long hand holder through all of life's ups and downs. Michele will miss her Mom greatly as this will leave a large hole in her heart and life.
Siblings will also miss her: Norma Carlson, Randy (Georganna) Hartz, Bud (Sundae) Hartz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Catherine Hartz, and son-in-law, James "Mark" Taylor.
She will be forever in our hearts, and her light will shine on in all those she touched.
In lieu of a service there will be a family and friends celebration of life in the spring and loved ones will be invited.
