Karen Peters Obituary

On September 9, 2021 at the age of 74, our beloved Karen Sue Peters left this world to join her heavenly father. She was an angel on earth, and loved her family and friends unconditionally. Karen was a giver and her willingness to help others was contagious.

She is survived by her loving husband Stacy Peters of 59 years; 2 children, Kenneth Peters and Deborah Arostegui (Frank), 2 beloved grandchildren Garett Arostegui (fiance Hannah McCaughey) and Saige Arostegui, brother Les Kizer (Judy).

She is preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Myrtle Kizer, sisters Deloris Bettencourt and Jewel Kizer.

Karen was born March 6, 1947 in Yuba City, CA. She was a lifelong Yuba Sutter resident, and grew up on a small ranch in Arboga. Karen attended Marysville High School. In 1961, Karen met the love of her life, Stacy, and they were wed August 19,1962. Karen and Stacy were able to celebrate their 59th wedding anniversary together surrounded by their family.

Karen was a loving but firm stay at home mom when the children were small and later, she began working at Harter's Cannery as a seasonal worker. She did this for many years. Karen then worked for the USPS as a rural route carrier for 22 years, she took pride in her work and was proud to be a part of the postal service. As a member of the Rural Route union, she was the Secretary and Facilitator. She retired in 2005 to then become a full-time grandma.

She spent her spare time quilting her heart out as a member of the Valley Quilt Guild for over 10 years and enjoyed every minute. She also volunteered much of her time at quilt shows and was a treasurer for the guild at times. She made countless quilts and loved fabric.

Karen was the heart of a large extended family. She especially enjoyed and looked forward to the family gatherings at Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Stocking Parties, and/or any reason for a get-together.

Karen was an original member of Crossroads Community Church. Karen was a devoted Christian, her faith never varied, even in her worst times. She dedicated many hours to the church as a member of the Benevolence Team for 7 years, set up for banquets and other activities at Crossroads Church. Karen was in charge of two beautiful flower beds that remain today.

Karen fought her year long battle with cancer with strength, grace and bravery. She went through it all without any complaints, and was able to have her family by her side. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7

A Graveside funeral will be held a Sierra View Mortuary & Memorial Park, 4900 Olive Ave, Olivehurst, CA at 10:00am on Friday, September 24, 2021.

My Dear Debbie,
My heart hurts so much for you, and I am sorry for your loss. We always wonder why people say "sorry" when we lose a parent, when in fact it should be joyous that the one we cherish so much has gone to be with the Lord to live in eternal light. I adored
Karen. Growing up she made me feel loved, safe and adored, she was beautiful. I found this quote which reminds me of her.
"There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone the light remains."
I love you friend.

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Karen very well growing up with Debbie and Kenny around the corner. Your mother was a special lady. God bless your family during this difficult time.
