Karen Atkinson Pricer

Karen Atkinson Pricer age 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 13, 2024, in Murrells Inlet, SC. Karen was born on December 27, 1945, in Lindsborg, KS, the 5th child of John and Ruby (Liss) Atkinson. She followed the birth of her twin sister, Sharen by six minutes.
Karen grew up on a farm in Saline County, KS, attending her first four years of school in Falun and then attending Marquette schools through high school. Karen and Sharen were inseparable, doing chores on the farm, playing hide and seek in the cornfields and looking forward to going to town for a cherry phosphate and a bag of peanuts for only 25 cents.
After high school, Karen attended Air Capital Business College in Wichita, KS. Two years later, she moved to the Washington D.C. area to be closer to her twin Sharen, who was in the Air Force in NJ. While in D.C., she worked at the Pentagon. Later Karen moved to Denver, CO where she worked at the Central National Bank and became a die-hard Broncos fan for life.
In Denver, Karen met her future husband, Daniel Pricer, and they were married on May 24, 1976. Dan's job transfers took them first to New York City, NY onto Birmingham, AL and back to Denver, CO before settling permanently in San Ramon, CA! Having an outstanding work ethic and excellent skills Karen quickly found employment in every city along the way.
Karen has two sons, Lee, born on August 16, 1980, and Max, born on March 21, 1982. She was a devoted mother and loved going to their baseball and soccer games.
Karen leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 48 years, Dan, her sons Lee (Megan) and Max, her twin sister Sharen Resendes (Joseph), her brother-in-law Eric Haberer, nieces, Denise Archer, Laura Angell, and Karen Resendes, nephew Paul Haberer, as well as numerous grandnieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Ruby and John Atkinson, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Jack and Lyle Atkinson; a sister Marlene Haberer; and her two nephews, Matthew Haberer and Stephen Resendes.
A celebration of Karen's life will be held 11:00am Monday, October 21, 2024 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. The family will receive friends one hour prior from 10:00-11:00am at the funeral home.
The family has requested that memorial donations to be made to the Marquette Learning Center, 310 Swedonia St, Marquette, KS 67464.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Legacy Village of Murrells Inlet, SC for the Compassionate, loving care that they gave to Karen while she was there.
