Edward Robert Hahner

Edward Robert Hahner Jr., 75, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026.

Born on November 28, 1950, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Edward was the son of the late Edward Robert Hahner Sr. and Lisetta Patella Hahner. Over the years, he lived in Jersey City, New Jersey; Houston, Texas; Charleston, West Virginia; and Indian Trail, North Carolina; before retiring in Murrells Inlet.

After graduating from St. Peter's College, he was employed by Union Carbide and later with Odyssey Logistics as Master Data Manager.

Edward was a man who truly enjoyed his retirement. He loved cooking for family and friends, reading, going to the beach, golfing and attending University of Tennessee football games with his friends, The Jersey Vols. He especially enjoyed spending time with and caring for his wife and children, including the family dogs, Georgia and Hazel.

He was actively involved in his community and took pride in his affiliations, including Civitan International, and serving as a former president of the Charleston, West Virginia Secret Santa group. He also enjoyed involvement with the Pawleys Island chapter of Drinking Liberally.

Edward is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Karen Grygiel Hahner of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; his children, Andrew Hahner of Indian Trail, North Carolina, Lisa Hahner of New York, New York, and Jeffrey Hahner of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; his brothers, Carmine Hahner of Florham Park, New Jersey, and Robert Hahner of Belmar, New Jersey; his mother-in-law, Teresa Grygiel of Daniels, West Virginia; and his brother-in-law, Scott Grygiel of Beckley, West Virginia.

A visitation will be held at Burroughs Funeral Home on March 28, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., followed by a service at 5:00 p.m. A dinner will immediately follow the service at Back Home BBQ.

The family requests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

Edward will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and love for family and friends. He leaves behind many cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
