Karen Mae Purvis, was born on September 23, 1941, at home in Dearborn, Missouri, to Dixie and Andrew Stagner. She passed away on August 24, 2025, at her home in Louisburg, Kansas. She lived a life dedicated to her family, community, and various passionate pursuits that brought joy to those around her.
Karen met her future husband, Jim Purvis while in school at North Platte High School. They would go on to be wed in a small ceremony at Karen’s parents house in Faucet, Missouri, in 1966.
Karen was not only a devoted wife to her husband, Jim, but also a cherished mother to her children, Ginny and Jason. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Matthew Brallier, Ashley (Melvin) Pulley, Nikki (Jon) Mossinghoff, Whitney Purvis, and Josh Daniels. Karen was also a proud great-grandmother or as they lovingly referred to her, Mama, to Evelyn, Vivienne, Marissa, Cameron, Dallas, Nora, Olivia and Forrest.
Throughout her life, Karen displayed a remarkable personality characterized by her love for embroidery, gardening, and baking. While she spent most of her life working in food service, in retirement she served as a special needs bus monitor, where her compassion and dedication to children made a profound impact. As a family-oriented person, she cherished Sunday dinners and played an instrumental role in organizing family reunions, creating lasting memories for generations to come. Karen had a keen ability of keeping the genealogy of the family in perfect order. If there was ever a question about who belonged where, Karen could sort it out in no time.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister. In addition, she mourned the loss of her son, Jason Purvis, favorite son-in-law Matthew R. Brallier, grandson, Bruce Sandon, and great-grandchild, Olivia.
Celebration of Life will be held on September 6, 2025, from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM at Dengel & Son Mortuary - Crematory located at 1 Aquatic Dr, Louisburg, KS 66053.
