Karen Leigh Seckinger, 57, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away in Sylvania on Sunday, March 23, 2025. She was born on July 18, 1967, to Sylvester "Gene" Swiatecki and Josephine (Plumb) Swiatecki. She attended Whitmer High School and graduated from the University of Toledo and later received two Master's Degrees in Education.
Karen had a love for teaching and taught special education in both Oregon and Toledo Public Schools before retiring. Alongside being a teacher, Karen had the biggest heart and talent for being a mom. She loved her sons deeply and had countless "honorary" children who came to know her mother's love. She was a safe refuge you could turn to, and never failed to make you feel loved and cared for. When she had spare time, Karen enjoyed being with her family and friends, she also enjoyed knitting and sharing her creations to any and all.
Karen had a very generous soul that was constantly seeking to help others. She donated to and was a volunteer at the Toledo Gospel Rescue Mission, living out her desire to help others as best as she could. She was an amazing woman and mother who will be incredibly missed by her sons and by all those whose lives were touched by her presence. Her memory will always be cherished.
Karen is survived by her sons, JT Seckinger, Ethan Seckinger; and countless honorary adopted children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Josephine Swiatecki; and brother, Jeff Swiatecki.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, beginning at 10 am at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH, 43623. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages donations be made to Mawo and Janet Abayas through Westgate Chapel or by mailing donations to Evangelism Resources, 425 Epworth Avenue, Wilmore, KY 40390.
